Terrorist squad plotting to abduct an IDF soldier was captured

IDF, ISA and Israeli Police thwart the terrorists' attempt to kidnap an IDF soldier to be used for negotiations to release prisoners, enforcing abduction threats by terrorists

The IDF, the Israeli Security Agency (ISA), and the Israeli Police successfully thwarted activity of a terrorist squad from the Hizma village, located north of Jerusalem, responsible for numerous violent kidnapping attempts.
The terrorist planned to kidnap an IDF soldier, hold him captive at a house or cave near the village and then transfer him for a financial profit to relatives of Palestinian executives currently imprisoned. The relatives would then use the abducted soldier for negotiations to release Palestinian prisoners, specifically Ahmed Sa'adat, leader of the Popular Front organization.
Rajeb Musa Salah Aldin led the terrorist squad, affiliated with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine organization.
While investigated by the ISA, the terrorist revealed the details of their abduction plot, and even previous unsuccessful attempts to carry out abductions. According to their plan, the terrorists planned to stop their vehicle near a soldier and violently force him into the vehicle, using metal pipes kept in the vehicle. In addition, the squad prepared cable ties to handcuff the soldier, and fabric to cover his eyes and face.
In December 2012, the terrorist squad planned to kidnap a soldier at the Ma'ale Adumim junction. The terrorists stopped their vehicle at the junction and waited for approximately ten minutes. However no soldiers arrived and the terrorists returned to their homes. On January 4, 2012 the terrorists carried out additional abduction attempts, once again arriving in their vehicle planning to kidnap a soldier. While driving, they spotted a civilian standing alone. They drove towards her and considered kidnapping her though decided against it, since they wished to kidnap a soldier.
On January 6, 2012, the terrorist squad carried out yet another abduction attempt in the Ma'ale Adumim junction. The terrorist drove to the region, and left once they realized no soldiers were present at the junction or at a nearby gas station.
Since they were unsuccessful at finding a desired kidnapping target, the terrorists considered carrying out attacks within Israel, at bus stations on the road between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, and then smuggle the kidnapped soldier back to the Judea and Samaria region. Arresting the terrorist squad perverted further additional and potentially successful abduction attempts.
Indictments were filed against the terrorists to a courthouse in Judea, accusing them of severe abduction attempts. They are currently under arrest.
The terrorist squad's activity joins other similar attempts that were recently exposed, revealing efforts of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine to bring to the release of the organization's leader Ahmed Sa'adat, who is currently imprisoned in Israel. The incident also highlights the high motivation of Palestinian terrorist organizations to carry out abduction attacks, and the threats these attempts pose.
